We want you to trust what you read here. This page explains how The Leaf Almanac is made and where our lines are.

#Our standards

Experience first. We write about plants we grow. A care sheet only goes live after we've kept the species through at least one seasonal cycle and seen how it behaves in ordinary home conditions.

Verified, not vibes. Specific claims — light requirements, watering intervals, toxicity, temperature ranges — are checked against reputable horticultural references, university extension resources, and, for toxicity, veterinary and poison-control databases. We link to primary sources where it helps.

Plain language. We translate horticultural terms into things you can act on. If we use a term like "well-draining" or "leggy," we explain what it means the first time.

Honesty about uncertainty. Plant care has genuine grey areas. When advice is contested or depends heavily on your conditions, we say so rather than inventing false certainty.

#Review and updates

Every guide has a byline and a "last updated" date. We review popular and time-sensitive guides on a rolling basis and revise them when our experience, reader feedback, or new information warrants it. When we make a significant correction, we fix it promptly and, where it matters, note the change.

#Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes. If you spot an error, tell us via the contact page and we'll investigate. Verified corrections are made quickly.

#Advertising and independence

The Leaf Almanac is free to read and supported by advertising. To keep our advice trustworthy:

• Ads never influence content. Advertisers have no say in which plants we cover or what we conclude about them.
• Editorial is separate from advertising. The team writing guides does not sell ads.
• We disclose. Any sponsored content or affiliate relationship, should we ever add one, will be clearly labelled. As of the date above, our guides are not affiliate-driven.

#AI and content

Our guides are written and edited by people. We may use software tools to check spelling, structure, or facts, but the experience, judgement, and final words are human. We do not publish machine-generated filler.
